Thank you SO MUCH for “seeing” this young woman. Bless you and her. My God, it isn't the sophisticated things we need. It isn't the judgments, the accusations, the assessments that we need; it is simply someone listening with love and lots of room, someone who will let us find our own way. I am so grateful you were there for Robin. I still have tears in my eyes. All of it (the truth, the writing, the poem) is beautiful, poignant and healing. I love this line: "She said that he had ripped her a new one but that it was OK because he had problems with 'failure' and she didn't consider dying a failure." Oh, so many people in the world need to hear this. We assess so quickly based on what? And place judgments on suicide and death and pain and suffering...when it is so much easier to just listen and be with...to just love. You have confirmed the truth in me. Thank you.

I read this on a broadcast you posted. It is absolutely wonderful, and touching. My eyes were far from dry long before the end. Such an important and good job you do. It sure is worth it, isn't it?

Omyword!

It's interesting how, when we assess the "value" of our lives, that we can make a long list of all our "failures" and discount our "accomplishments." I use quotes because calling anything a failure is a questionable practice. It's subjective. And it implies that nothing of value came out of the experience.

I think we each are an essential spark of spirit and we all hold intrinsic value as human beings. Just as the spark of life in a plant or in a rock has value. I don't think it is an arguable point. Even people like Hitler serve as a valuable lesson for all of us. As an example of the difference between what sustains and builds, and what destroys and stops, the spirit of life.

Thanks for allowing Robin the dignity of choice. Thanks for not pushing your values on her. Thanks for serenading her, and passing along her story, in such a lovely way.

Thank you for your post. I have known people who have committed suicide - my friend Tony in the 70's, my friend Claire's brother two years ago, the lady I saw on the TV who went to the clinic of Vincent Minelli in Zurich (I just wanted to hug her and take her home for a cup of tea) an actress I knew who couldn't cope with growing old, another actress who just couldn't cope...and all their bewildered husbands and wives and friends.

Thank you for being there with Robin.
